If there is one place you must check out in Cape Town, other than the beaches of course, it is this quaint colourful street called Bo-Kaap.
One of the oldest residential areas in Cape Town, the street is home to many a culture residents from the apartheid era.
In the 1700s, slaves from all over India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia were sent here by the Dutch. Soem of them eventually settled here in Bo-Kaap.
During the apartheid period, slaves were striped off from having any identity. No names, no difference in appearance and thus, post the apartheid period, residents decided to live in the most colourful manner possible.
